How do you zero a rifle with a red dot sight?
I bought a rifle that has a more-c-tac for c. It came with no document and I have no idea how to zero. Am I supposed to put the item on the iron sites and zero, or should they be removed. Totally confused, please help …
Skip iron sites. If the Red Cross dot sight is close enough to touch the target, which is to stay on paper, what you should do is to use sand bags to rest your rifle. Make sure it is held in a well and the red dot is the point death of the bulls eye at 25 meters. Fire three rounds aimed at the exact center of the bubble. Do not pay attention to where they are now as long as they are hitting the paper somewhere. Go to your target and use a magic marker to make a big point about the size of half a dollar the center of the group you just shot. Now, put your gun unloaded solidly on the sandbags in order not to move and aim at the dead center of the bubble. Now, without moving the gun at all, use the adjustment knobs to move the red dot when it focuses on the Magic Marker dot you did. You are now at zero for 25 yards. Go to the range of 50 meters and set up a target. Fire three rounds to the dead point of the bubble. Now Use your knob repeat the adjustments you made to 25 meters and you will be zeroed for 50 yards. If you want to zero at another distance, just do what you've learned to do at 25 and 50 yards to zero your scope regardless of the distance you want.
